Singapore has lost her people's president

Today is another day in the calendar, it is another friday, the month of may and the year 2005. This totally seem normal but it is a day being written into the history of Singapore. Today is the day we pay our last respect to our great people's president; Dr. Wee Kim Wee (1915-2005).
He was our president from 1985 to 1993. Even though i was only a little girl at that time, I can still remember him as a kind, humble, warm elderly man who had done all his best for this country.

I am watching his last funeral service, listening to speeches given by the Wee's family members and country present Prime Minister, Mr. Lee and at the same time typing this blog. He was a great leader, a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather.

One of the speeches given by his granddaughter left a great and deep impression of Dr. Wee in my heart. He gave names to the his pets turkeys, sent them to the Singapore Zoo and requested the staff of the zoo to give him a daily report on the life of these turkeys living in the zoo. A loving husband who was then the president of Singapore and was busy with his daily duties, gave his granddaughter a special folder with a list of the songs which Mrs. Wee love to listen, when she asked him what are the songs her grandmother love.

"A man with both high IQ and EQ." said by Prof. Tommy Koh....

Whoever you are, when you come across this blog, please observe a minute of silence for Singapore people's president.

" Dr. Wee, you will always live in the hearts of Singaporeans."
