My cutie family members' stories: Fatimah-- 大姑姑!!!

I grew up without a mother by my side, but I was never depressed about it..... I might envy when I walk down the streets  and see kids clinging on to their mothers, or calling out " Mummy.........." or even when I see my cousins being so close to their mothers....... I will start to think about myself, when the image of my grandma and my two aunts enter my mind, I started to giggle and laugh out loud!!!! It is ok that i don't have a mother, but I still have these three women to act as a father, mother and auNties!!!

My grandma 在我的心中是永远排在第一位, my dad is definately rank after her!!!!

Today I am going to talk about my 姑姑... Basically, she is a 口毒心善之人。Anything that comes out from her mouth especially, can drive me up the wall and quarrel with her, but when it comes to her heart, she is EXTREMELY kind to the people in need.

Everytime, she sees people in need she will try her best to donate something that can help them......  whenever she go travelling, she never forget to pack old clothes or toys and others that poorer people there may need. This is something everyone needs to learn but can never do it! It is very tiring to bring extra luaggage as it is an extra burden to carry around in a place where danger are lurking around!

I had experienced this so I know, In 2004, with  姑姑, we accompany grandma back to China for visiting, and we actually went to the rural villages deep inside the city of 深圳. It was very scary to pull a number of luagge around, and changing buses, and with three luagges, only one contained our belongings. The other two consist额度 of things to be donated.

Even though I will have daily arguements and quarrel with her, there is never bad feelings between the two of us, she will love to nag at us, even my dad and  grandmother is not spared.

Both of my 姑姑 is of very different character, yet they get along very well to go on travel trips together....

姑姑 is a very smart and energetic woman, no one in the family can be compared to her, she is very alert and very enthusiatic in doing everything...... she is also very streetwise, u just throw her anywhere around the world, she will NEVER LOST her way.

When It comes to travelling, there is something very special about her......... I always call her the temperature oven!!!! Why do I say that? Very simple: She go places with very very low temperature, she is able to REGULATE her body temperature!!!! Don't understand ? I will explain: While others are freezing and shivering, she is running around in her sleeveless blouse.....
In temperature below freezing point, just give her a coat and a pair of gloves, she will survive!!!

My dad always exclaimed: Don't know what she is made of?????

Even if she is working, she is always helping in the household chores, unlike me!!!!! Both my 姑姑s have nicknames, but that is for fun as they are like secretary, managers and maid  helping my dad and grandmother!!!
" Fatimah is her nick!!!!! hahahah!"

My cutie family Members' Stories: A Small-Built Tree --- My Third Uncle..........

My third uncle is a very interesting character if you get to know him....... and Why would I describe him to be a small built tree ???,  there is a story behind the theory.
My family is a very traditional household especially my dad, u can simply call him 老古董。My dad's mindset is even more conservative than my granny.  Being very traditional Teochew, we are brought up to greet our elders by their respective kinship terms......

My uncle was the youngest of three sons, thus we called him 小叔..... Quite a few years back, my cousin Kenn-Two started calling him 一棵小树!! From then on, the youngers ones started to call him in that manner...... We were quite naughty, tried to make fun of him.....

My third uncle was never angry despite us being the younger generation always attempted to make fun of him....  As usual, he will raised his voice, stared hard at us and shouted "@#$%$*&!...... Don't be rude ah.... I am your 小叔!!!!

Out of the three sons, he is of the smallest built as compared to my dad and second uncle!!!! He is cute at times but sometimes when you talk to him, you tends to 翻白眼. Coz he is considered to be one of the most talkative person in the family...... and that happened when everyone is eating at the dinning table...... He is always the first to eat and the last to finish........ At times, he is even slower than my granny....

He is also a very loud person, and every time he come to my house for dinner, my 小姑 has to keep reminding him to talk softy..... eat your food and so on and so forth.......
(To tell you a secret, In my family, both my 姑姑and 小姑 have "Individualized Reminders" for each and everyone in the family!!! I will tell mine next time)

Each time, he come into my room, he will remind me to do something to my room, either renovate my room, or clear my room...... he will repeat the same lines, I will also repeat mine....... and this goes on for years.... and neither of us can reach to a conclusion...... Hhahahah.......

He has a habit that I never can understand, He loves to buy "Cheap stuff...... and worse of all, the stuff will always ended up in my house, in my granny's "Collection".... I often asked him, why u buy it for ? and his answer will be " this's one very good, and cheap!!!!!"

But among the five siblings, he is the only one who is up-to-date with the IT world, he is very well-versed with the IT knowledge........  cannot compare him with my 姑姑and 小姑.

My these two aunts can already drive u up the wall with the use of a handphone......  which means (I will tell u the next time )

And one last thing , before I forget, My 小叔 is even more conservative than my dad!!!!! Oh Dear!!!! Now I have two 老古董 in the family.......

我家的无价之宝。Priceless Antiques

Now that I realized I had quite a number of antiques in my house, I would like to share some of the pictures with you..... This is only half of the amount as my grandma stated that some of them were not suitable to be taken e.g. religious artifacts.......etc. The age of these items fall in between 30yrs to 100plus yrs....... Take a guess, which is the oldest???

The two clocks above are placed in different parts of my house, the living room and my dad's bedroom!

Not forgetting this's one:
Want to know the answer?????

Pest Control in Wee Hours in the Morning, Happening Right in My Own House!

It was four o'clock in the morning, I was supposed to be in deep sleep...... yet I was turning and tossing in bed!!! I could not even fall asleep , all thanks to the slamming, smacking and pisssssss sound I heard continuously!!! Finally I gave up trying to get into my deep slumber!!! I was wondering where the heck the noise came from....... I got up from bed and decided to investigate what was going on !! When I opened my room door, I saw that the kitchen and the balcony lights were on... Who and what the person was doing in the kitchen..

I tiptoed to the kitchen and tried to peek ...... To my horror, I saw my brother squatting on the floor , with one insecticide spray in his left hand and a slipper in his right....!!!!!!

"What the heck are u doing at this time?" I asked my brother in an irritable tone of voice (Who can be nice still when u are awoken unnecessarily  and the next day you start work at 7am).

My brother look at me , smiled and said ( In Teochew dialect) "我在杀死这些死蟑螂!!!"" 我在帮阿妈铲除这些死蟑螂!!!!
The next splitting seconds, I broke into laughter..... I could  not control myself!!!!
My brother then started to ventilate ............ I started to yawn !!!!!
Then I saw the bodies lying on the floor and I warned him to stop coz it was disturbing me and he can continue his job at a much NORMAL TIME!!!!

In the end, I took some pictures coz he threatened to leave the bodies there in the kitchen till my grandma sees "them" otherwise she will not believe that there were lots of cockroaches.

My KL Trip

I dont know about others, but for me: my colleagues and my bosses are my friends when we are not working. Many others had asked me : Friends are friends, Colleagues are colleagues, you can't mix them. I am very proud to declare that when we are working, we are serious about work and when it comes to play, we are serious too.

Working is a time to understand your colleague's own working styles, and play is the best time to understand the person as who he or she is!

Thus we had arranged a trip to KL to relax and get away from work. It is a good time for me coz it had quite long since I last went for a holiday. There was suppose to be 12 of us going, but at the last minute one of  my dear friend M was unable to make it due to unforeseen circumstances that popped up at the last minute. It was a pity that she could not join us.

This is my first time to travel to KL by car, initially I was quite ambivalent in going to KL, but I was very happy that I did not regret my decision. We drove in to Malaysia in 3 cars, A's, K's and D's cars. I was arranged to join A's car for the first part of the journey.  As usually, I had actually fell asleep throughout. At the 2nd part of the journey, I joined C in K's car, again I fell asleep until I reached KL's city area. I was supposed to chit chat with C on the 2nd part of the journey but I just can't help as it is my habit. Every time when I travel on long distance on bus or car, the sleep bugs will attack me!

I was saying I got awake when we reached KL, I couldn't sleep anymore as we got lost on our way to the hotel. The map had stated that the hotel is in the Ampang area. Since this is the first time for the male drivers to drive in to KL, we all placed our hope on K's GPRS system. We were lost for almost an hour, and while turning around KL, we then realised that many areas in KL were called Ampang. We saw Ampang Mall, Ampang Walk etc........

Finally we followed the GPRS and finally the system sounded "YOU HAVE ARRIVED!"
But to our horror, There was no hotel in sight but a petrol kiosk station!
Fortunately, we managed to get to our destinations finally.

As usually , we went shopping, eating, playing and also watching..... coz I remembered all of us were excited about World Cup 2010: the semi-finals and the finals.

Talking about watching, I remember the rooms allocation, we were staying in an apartment hotel. There are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room with an attached kitchen. I was allocated to an apartment with C, D and his wife. Then my neighbour was three "old ladies", whereas S, A and K were allocated on the ninth's level.

One thing I hated about the apartment was the bathroom, there was the one and only bathroom! There were no attached bathroom in the rooms, in the end we all have to queue up, taking turns to shower! of coz the guy will always be the last! hahaha........

On our first night before sleep, we actually played board game called "THE MAD MAGAZINE!" D brought it along on the trip just in case we felt bored in the hotel room. It was an unusual game, but we had a good time ! To me it is not really a game, BUT 我感觉被整!I don't really know how to describe it but if anyone have come across it, pls try! I am very sure SH and C will agree with me! It was totally unlike Monopoly, you got to win lots of money, but this game, in fact you have to lose all your money to win! Then there were " stupid steps like exchange seats with the person on your left........ imitate your fav animal and ........lot of crazy acts and stuff!
When I come to think of it, it always make me laugh!!!!

On the second day, shopping was still the first choice, and I remember half of us were stuck in a shop selling lingerie! Hahahaha!
Then we all met for meals, and that was the time when A show us the scary masks he bought. The purposes of the masks were for a dancing item he is preparing on Nurse's Day celebration. (I will try to add in the video).

Subsequently after a tired day our for shopping, some of us planned to go for massage. Before going for massage, we actually took our dinner first @ a Persian Restaurant. It was every one's first time to enjoy (Present Day: Iran) Persian food and tea . It turned out to be quite delicious and I don't mind to try it again. The atmosphere was also great!!

After the meals, we went for our massage! And the funny thing was there was some blunders happening right in the massage palour!!

Most of us chose to massage head and shoulder, but the truth is it was almost the whole upper body (of coz excluding the front). Before the massage started, we were brought into a dim-litted room with beds side by side, and there were screens too for each beds. We were then told to change and were given clothes that were similar like operating gown. S and I were wondering how to put it on, strings in front or at the back?????? and must we take out our bra?????? I actually asked the questions out loud, forgetting that the rest of the massage customers can hear what I just asked???? S was embarrassed by me!!!! Haha!!

Now forget about me..... The next person was D, he was the only male who went with us for massage and he was the noisy one...... ahahahahah!!! Pain !!!pain!!! (just joking... I can't say much.....he will slaughter me!!!!!) but There is one thing I can share: The massage lady was very pleased to have a " Handsome customer!" She kept praising him after the session..... Share a  secret: I said earlier, we chose head and shoulder massage, but he was even better, given the more, including massage on his bum and legs........ Hahahaha!!

Since after massage, we returned to our hotel, the night was still young, S, SH, SK and I played mini majong on the dinning table...... The rest of them went to bed early as they need to wake up to watch the finals of the World Cup 2010.

The next day, we pepared to return to Singapore.... I nearly forgot about my passport, but luckily I managed to find it. It had fallen out from my pocket onto the sofa while I was watching TV!! I would not dare to think what will happen if I can't find my passport!!!!!  "--""

I then sleep my way home!!!!!! all the way back to Singapore! At the last rest stop, we had our lunch at A&W....... We missed that coz A&W is no longer operating in Singapore!!!!

A day spent by walking ..........

The 1st of May is Labour Day....... it is also my off day on a Saturday. My status now is an Advanced Dip Nursing student; so I am entitled to weekends off. Soon my course is ending early June., thusI decided to spend each of my weekends fruitfully.

I then phone my close friend L to accompany me. The first thing that had crossed my mind was that I wanted to pray for a lot at the Kwan Im Tong Hood Che Temple as I had just completed my examinations  to 求个心安. I believe firmly to what the lot interpretation is. Throughout my growing years, my family and I had seen and experienced the accurancy of the lots interpretation and that is what make me a believer!

After an hour spent at the temple, L and I had not decided where is our next destination, so we decided to walk and see if we can come up with any theme for the day....... After sometime walking, I decided to go the Asian Civilisations Museum to check out if there is any interesting exhibition. It is fun to walk and sightsee at the same time despite the warm weather. To others, it may deem it to be boring, "what is there to see.......!" Actually there is a lot to see; if you see it with your eyes alone (of course there will nothing new) but if you see it with your heart and imaginary mind (you will see a lot of interesting things).

After checking out the museum, I had seen most of the exhibition the last time, so we move on...... after which i again decided to go to "Chinatown  Heritage Centre" . Finally both of us spent quite sometime inside...... where the exhibits allow us to discover the stories of early chinese migrants who made their hardship journey to Singapore.

We then end the day by having dinner at Pizza Hut...... Here are the pictures I took during my sightseeing....
